rainbow spaghetti

Came across this on Tablespoon by by Gimme Some Oven and, while you could serve it all year, it’s PERFECT for Easter!

All you need is:

  • Spaghetti (or whichever pasta you’d like)
  • Food colouring in your choice of colours
  • Plastic Ziploc bags
  • Water

Cook the spaghetti noodles al dente, according to package directions and strain. Rise with cold water to stop it from cooking.

While pasta is cooking, get the colouring bags ready. You’ll need one Ziploc for each colour of pasta you want to make (the picture uses 6 different colours). Add two tablespoons of warm water to each bag and add about 20 drops of food colouring to the water.

Put the strained noodles into the bags, seal and mix the coloured water all around. Some recipes say to leave it for at least a minute. Her recipes says about 5-10 minutes. (I’d say to check the noodles yourself and see if you want them brighter or not.)

Strain each bag individually, and rinse with cold water to remove excess food colouring. Combine all the pasta together back in the original pot and mix.

Serve with sauce or butter and parm. Or, to really step up your rainbow spaghetti game, serve it with Parmesan Clouds. Oh yeah. Rainbow pasta with parmesan clouds.  Here’s that recipe.
