A massive tornado ripped through southern Manitoba last night with thunderstorm that brought high wind, hail and rain.

Greg Johnson,  star of the show Tornado Hunters, tweeted a picture of Pierson, MB showing how the tornado was so violent it ripped the asphalt from the highway.

Environment Canada received several reports of tornadoes touching down but have now confirmed it was one, long-lasting tornado with a twister on the ground for close to 3 hours, hitting Melita and Tilston. Take a look at this insane video filmed by meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer:

And The Weather Network had this crazy shot

While all the tornado watches have ended, Environment Canada recommends us that if we do see a tornado, “Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.”
