Who says that Shakespeare always has to be pretty? The trailer for Justin Kurzel’s Palme d’Or-nominated adaptation of The Scottish Play looks more like the battle scenes from Braveheart than it does a dainty theatre performance.

Michael Fassbender stars as Macbeth, the usurper king of Scotland, and and Marion Cotillard is his Lady.

Bloody battles, murders and burning witches. This looks pretty amazing.

Macbeth is due in theatres December 4th.
