Jimmy and The Roots join Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford for an a cappella tribute to “Star Wars.”

Plus, if you’re looking to introduce family and friends who haven’t seen them yet to the Star Wars saga might I suggest the Machete Order.

The problem with watching the movies in order 1-6 is that you ruin some of the really cool theatrical reveals. But if you watch the release order 3-6, 1-3, it kind of feels disjointed.

The Machete Order was created a couple of years ago by blogger Rod Hilton. He says you should watch the original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back first, then watch the prequels before finishing it all off with Return of the Jedi (so that’s 4, 5, 2, 3, 6). This introduces you to the universe through the original movie, you get the cliffhanger in Empire Strikes Back, you have a Darth Vader flashback with 2 & 3, and then wrap it up with Return of the Jedi. Perfection!

You may have noticed the lack of film one in that order. Personally, I suggest watching it 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 but read Rod’s blog post if you want to know his reasons for omitting 1 altogether.

And, hey, if this spans a fandom that just can’t get enough, there’s more! TV shows, cartoons, short stories, comic books… You can see a full list of Star Wars “canon” stories here.
