A lot of people complain there isn’t much to do in Winnipeg in the winter.

Well, there’s a new festival coming that will transform The Forks into an ice wonderland. It’ll be similar to something called the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in China. Everything will be made of ice and snow and will have LED lights inside the so it all shines. Over 40 artists are coming from China tomorrow to start building the site.

The festival should be up and running in about a month. Icetival will feature a giant slide inspired by the legislature, ice bumper cars on the river as well as an ice bar.

Tickets will be $25 for adults and $15 for kids. The hope is to make this an annual festival that draws more tourists to Winnipeg in the winter.

Here’s a preview of what it’ll look like!
