Ed Sheeran is opening up about the time he met Eminem, and what it was like working with him in the studio.

Chatting with Rebecca Judd (Apple Music 1), Ed says, “Years ago, Rick Rubin (producer) asked if I wanted to be introduced to Eminem when they flew to New York to attend a Saturday Night Live taping.  I said, ‘No, I want to get the point where Eminem wants to meet me.'”

Eventually, Ed got the chance to record with Eminem, “[The studio] was in Detroit and I was playing a gig in Detroit. And yeah, I arrived.  He’s got loads of games consoles there. He loves games. I actually bought him a Nintendo 64 with [GoldenEye 007] on it as a gift. I just stepped in there. Actually, first time we met, we didn’t make music. I hung out there for about four hours, and we just spoke Marvel and Avengers for about four hours. And then the next time I went back, we made a tune. The first tune we made, I was in Mexico and his producer flew to Mexico, and I did the hook there and stuff,” Ed recalls.

River, which is their first collaboration, ended up on Eminem’s album Revival (2017).  A year later, they would team up again on Remember the Name, which is off of Ed’s No. 6 Collaborations Project.

In addition to its seventh week at No.1 in the UK, Ed released a Bad Habits remix, and it features British Rappers Tion Wayne and Central Cee.

And to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his debut album, +, Ed will be performing his entire album during an intimate show inside London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Sept. 2.  “While I’ve been lucky enough to continue playing shows across the world, Shepherd’s Bush Empire is still really special to me,” he shares.

Ed says, “When I first set out in music, one of my main goals was to one day headline SBE and my first gig there is still one of my favourite shows that I’ve played.  I can’t wait to get back and celebrate 10 years of + with you.”
