Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe…but only after Miss Colombia was accidentally named the winner! Is Steve Harvey or are the Pageant organizers to blame?

During Sunday evening’s big reveal, host Steve Harvey read the card wrong. Instead of announcing the pageant’s rightful winner, Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, Harvey announced the runner up Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo.

Now, here’s the card he had to read.

Harvey immediately tweeted (and deleted) an apology. He then posted these three tweets:

There is some speculation that the error was done on purpose to get people talking about the Miss Universe Pageant (because, seriously, it’s 2015. How are we still pretending beauty pageants are okay?)

But inside sources now say it was a technical glitch. They report that Harvey was being fed the information that was on the cards through an earpiece all night but the earpiece cut out just before the big reveal and Steve Harvey had to read the card for the first time.
